If you are a fan of supercars, the Acura NSX and the Nissan GT-R are likely on your radar. While both are performance-driven and offer that perfect sports car aesthetic, which one is the best for you?
Today, our team at Maus Acura North Tampa puts these two supercars to the test. Which one will come out on top? Let's see!
Performance
The 2022 NSX is a formidable rival in the supercar segment and offers a hybrid-electric powertrain with three electric motors that offer a combined total of 573 horsepower. It also offers Quiet and Sport modes, to make the NSX feel more maneuverable for daily driving.
Thanks to its hybrid engine the NSX offers 21 mpg in the city and 22 on the highway.
The 2021 Nissan GT-R has a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine which offers 600 horsepower and 481 lb.-ft of torque. The GT-R offers 16 mpg in the city and 22 on the highway.
Interior
The 2022 Acura NSX is touted as an everyday supercar, and it is definitely comfortable and intuitive enough to be a daily driver. It features leather and faux suede seats, a faux-suede headliner, and a carbon-fiber trimmed steering wheel.
The Nissan GT-R offers an abundance of standard features, but as a whole, the interior isn't very impressive, especially for a supercar. Further, the quality of the materials is below the level of its rivals in this price range.
Ergonomics
Ergonomics is important in a sports car, and the NSX does not disappoint! It offers power braking with just one touch and releases with another touch or automatically. The GT-R has a lever-type parking brake that can be hard to engage and disengage.
Next, if you leave your windows open on the NSX, you can close them all with the outside door handle. You can also lower the windows at the outside door or with a keyless remote on a hot day. The windows can only be operated from inside the GT-R when the ignition is on.
If it's raining, the NSX engages its rain-sensitive wipers automatically and will adjust their speed based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. The GT-R has intermittent wipers that change speed with the vehicle speed, but they will not turn on or off or change speed based on rainfall.
At night, sensitive light sensors that come standard on the NSX detect other vehicles and automatically switch to low beams. The GT-R doesn't offer automatic dimming high beams.
Finally, when reversing, both rearview mirrors tilt in the NSX from their original position to give you a better view of the curb during parallel parking. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors back to their original positions. The GT-R's mirrors do not automatically adjust for backing up.
Technology
The Acura NSX comes with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an ELS Studio nine-speaker stereo system.
The 2021 Nissan GT-R is outfitted with an 8.0-inch touchscreen that can be controlled with a rotary knob. A Bose audio system comes standard as well.
Bottom Line
If you are in the market to purchase a supercar this year, consider the 2022 Acura NSX! With a hybrid-electric engine, great fuel economy, and ample standard features, this performance-driven supercar blows its rivals out of the water!
