Compact cars like the Acura ILX and Honda Civic offer a sleek style and sporty drive. They also make your drive easier with lots of features. Which one is right for you, though? Maus Acura of North Tampa put together this 2020 Acura ILX vs. Honda Civic comparison to help drivers in Westchase, Tampa, and Pebble Creek, FL, decide.

Performance Specs

The 2020 Acura ILX offers an exciting drive with a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine. It delivers a high-powered performance with 201 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. To harness that kind of power, you'll have an 8-Speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT).

This transmission is designed for quick shifting, but also includes a torque converter to help you enjoy a smooth ride. It also gives you the ability to drive manually with Sequential SportShift Paddle Shifters.

The Honda Civic also offers a smooth ride, but it's not designed to drive like a sport sedan. It offers two engines, but neither one delivers that much power. The base engine only offers 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. A 1.5L turbocharged engine is also available, but it tops out at just 174 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque.

The Civic comes with a 6-Speed Manual Transmission (6MT), but a Continuously Variable Transmission is also available. Unfortunately, neither one is capable of delivering a performance-inspired drive.

The Acura ILX features a premium cabin that's equipped with sport seats and sleek interior accents. Leatherette upholstery comes standard, but perforated Milano leather is also available. For a more striking appearance, you can also add contrast stitching.

After you get behind its leather-wrapped steering wheel, you'll be able to get comfortable, using a standard 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat with lumbar support. There are several ways to customize the cabin before you hit the road too. Ambient cabin lighting comes standard, along with a Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control with Humidity Control system. You can even let in some natural light with a standard power moonroof.

The Honda Civic comes with cloth upholstery and doesn't offer sport seats. While it does offer amenities like a power-adjustable driver's seat, moonroof, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, unfortunately, they're only available on select trim levels.

The Acura ILX also features the latest technology. The dashboard is home to two sleek monitors. You'll be able to sync your smartphone to the touchscreen on the bottom. It lets you stream music, use your apps, and stay in touch with the following features:

  • Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® and Audio Streaming
  • SMS/MMS Text Message Capability
  • Apple CarPlay®
  • Android Auto™

Meanwhile, the top screen is home to the Acura Navigation System. It gives you turn-by-turn directions and shows you your route in real time with 3D View.

The Honda Civic only offers one screen for its infotainment system. While it comes with Bluetooth®, features like Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and a text message function don't come standard. The base trim doesn't even include a touchscreen. It only has a 5-inch LCD monitor.
