Luxury SUVs are a more stylish way to get your family around. The Acura MDX and the Audi Q7 both come with three rows of seats, lots of cargo room, and premium amenities, so they're both great options for families in Westchase, Tampa, and Pebble Creek, FL. To help you choose between the two models, the team at Maus Acura of North Tampa put together this 2020 Acura MDX vs. Audi Q7 comparison.

Performance & Fuel Economy

The 2020 Acura MDX runs on a 3.5L V6 engine that gets up to 290 horsepower. This works with a versatile 9-speed automatic transmission. While it delivers a smooth, quick drive, it also lets you take control with Sequential SportShift paddle shifters. These allow you to manually shift without a clutch.

The Audi Q7 doesn't provide you with as much power or capability. It comes with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that only gets up to 248 horsepower. While it also features paddle shifters, its 8-speed automatic transmission doesn't give you as many gears.

On top of delivering a fun drive, the Acura MDX also offers great fuel economy. A sporty hybrid powertrain is available that includes a 3.0L V6 engine, a lithium-ion battery, and a pair of electric motors. Together, they can get up to an EPA-estimated 26 city/27 highway MPG.i

The Audi Q7 can't cover quite as much ground on a single tank of gas. It doesn't offer a hybrid, so it will need to stop for gas more often. It can only get up to an EPA-estimated 19 city/23 highway MPG.

Both SUVs come with leather seats and seating for seven. The Acura MDX has a more eye-popping interior, though. It offers sport seats with contrast stitching and perforated Milano leather. You'll also be comfortable during your drive with a standard 12-way power adjustable driver's seat with lumbar support.

While the Audi Q7 is decked out with classic luxury, it doesn't have the same edgy, modern style as the Acura. You also won't find 12-way power adjustable seats until the top trim level.

All-wheel drive keeps both SUVs in control on wet roads. On top of offering traction and stability, the Acura MDX also helps keep you safe with smart driver-assistance features. It helps prevent accidents with standard technology that includes:

  • Collision Mitigation Braking System™
  • Forward Collision Warning System
  • Lane Departure Warning System
  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow

You'll be well protected in case the unexpected happens, too. The Acura MDX comes with seven airbags, including a driver's knee airbag and side curtain airbags that cover all three rows of seats.

The Audi Q7 includes some similar driver-assistance features. However, Adaptive Cruise Control is only offered on one trim level. It also leaves some of the cabin exposed with only six airbags.
