Performance & Fuel Economy

The Acura MDX offers an exciting drive with a 3.5L V6 engine that provides 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. To manage this performance-inspired powertrain, you'll have a 9-speed automatic transmission with Sequential SportShift paddle shifters.

The Honda Pilot also offers paddle shifters, but it only comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission. You won't have as much power under the hood, either. While it also runs on a 3.5L V6 engine, it can only get up to 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque.

The Acura MDX also offers good fuel economy with a Sport Hybrid powertrain. The 3.0L V6 hybrid system can get up to an EPA-estimated 26 city/27 highway MPG.i Plus, it delivers up to 321 horsepower. The Honda Pilot is also an efficient SUV but it's not available as a hybrid. It will need to stop for gas more often with an EPA-estimated 20 city/27 highway MPG.

The Acura MDX makes your drive easier and more fun with lots of smartphone compatibility. The dashboard features a standard touchscreen you can sync with your smartphone. Once you're connected, you'll be able to stay in touch, stream music, and use your apps with the following features:

  • Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®
  • SMS, MMS text message and email capability
  • Apple CarPlay®
  • Android Auto™

To find the best route for your drive, you can add a second screen with the Acura Navigation System. It features 3D maps and turn-by-turn directions.

The Honda Pilot also offers a navigation system, but its standard system is very limited. While it includes Bluetooth®, it doesn't offer Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, text message capability, or even a touchscreen until the higher trim levels. The base trim includes a tiny 5-inch LCD screen.

High-End Design

As a performance-inspired luxury SUV, the Acura MDX has a sharp, modern design both inside and out. The exterior features sleek lines and a bold black grille, while the interior comes with standard leather seats. For an even more exciting drive, sport seats with contrast stitching are also available.

You'll be in control of a standard leather-wrapped steering wheel, plus you'll have lots of ways to get comfortable with a 12-way power adjustable driver's seat.

The Honda CR-V is a stylish SUV, but it doesn't have the same high-end design. The exterior has a small grille, while the interior comes with cloth seats. Amenities like leather seats and a power-adjustable driver's seat are only available on the upper trim levels.
