With three rows of seats and lots of safety features, the Acura MDX and the Toyota Highlander are a great fit for families in Westchase, Tampa, and Pebble Creek, FL. Which one is right for you and your family, though? The team at Maus Acura of North Tampa put together this 2020 Acura MDX vs. Toyota Highlander comparison to help you decide.

2020 Acura MDX vs Toyota Highlander: Cargo Room

The Acura MDX and the Toyota Highlander are designed to carry everything you need. Each one comes with a large trunk, plus they're both capable of towing up to 5,000 pounds. While that can help you bring your boat along to Tampa Bay or tow a trailer on your next family trip, you'll also be able to pack lots of bags inside, too.

The Acura MDX is great for running errands. It even includes folding seats, so you can load all your bags, beach gear, and boxes. With both the second and third rows folded, you'll have up to 90.9 cubic feet of cargo room.

The Toyota Highlander also includes folding second- and third-row seats, but it can't carry quite as much. With both rows folded down, it only offers up to 84.3 cubic feet of cargo room.

Acura MDX vs Toyota Highlander: Interior Amenities

The Acura MDX has a classy cabin that features modern luxury and comfortable features. Sport seats come standard to give your drive a more exciting feel. There's premium leather upholstery standard, but perforated leather and Alcantara® are also available. You can even give the seats a more dynamic design with contrast stitching.

You'll find plenty of ways to kick back and relax, too. Both the driver and front passenger will enjoy standard 12-way power seats with lumbar support. You'll also be able to cool off with ventilated seats. Plus, your passengers will stay cool and comfortable, too, with tri-zone automatic climate control with humidity control and air filtration.

The Toyota Highlander also offers tri-zone climate control, but it doesn't feature humidity control. While it does offer ventilated seats, its power adjustable seats don't offer nearly as many settings. Cloth seats come standard, so if you prefer leather, you'll have to upgrade to a higher trim level.

MDX vs Toyota Highlander: Infotainment System

With a pair of touchscreens in the dashboard, the Acura MDX looks like a high-tech cockpit. The bottom screen comes with lots of smartphone compatibility. After you sync your phone to the system, you'll be able to stream music, stay connected, and use your apps. Some of the features that come standard include:

  • Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® & audio streaming
  • Text message & e-mail capability
  • Apple CarPlay®
  • Android Auto™

Moving up the dashboard, you'll find 3D maps and the Acura Navigation System that will help you find the fastest route and guide you with turn-by-turn directions.

The Toyota Highlander comes with all the same smartphone capabilities, but only one screen, so it may seem a bit more confusing with all your features and a map of your route on the same screen.
