Luxury crossovers and SUVs, like the Acura RDX and Lexus NX series, are a great way to get around Westchase, Tampa, and Pebble Creek, FL. They're stylish, powerful, and offer lots of convenient technology. Which one is right for you, though?

To help you decide, the team at Maus Acura of North Tampa put them up against each other in this 2020 Acura RDX vs. Lexus NX 300 comparison.

Performance Specs

The 2020 Acura RDX runs on an exciting 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that gets up to 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel drive comes standard, but Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™ is available on every trim level. To manage this powerful engine, you'll have a versatile 10-speed automatic transmission. You can also take control of the gear shifting with Sequential SportShift paddle shifters.

The Lexus NX 300 also comes with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, but it's not quite as powerful. It can only deliver up to 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. While it also offers all-wheel drive, its 6-speed automatic transmission isn't nearly as capable.

Passenger Space & Cargo Room

Both SUVs offer seating for five riders and plenty of cargo room. However, the Acura RDX has a more spacious interior overall. For example, drivers of all heights will appreciate its 40 inches of front headroom, while your passengers can stretch out with 38 inches of legroom in the back seats.

The Lexus has a lower ceiling and might feel like a tight squeeze with only 37.4 inches of headroom. It may also feel a little cramped in the back seats with just 36.1 inches of legroom.

The Acura also gives you more cargo room. With 29.5 cubic feet of cargo room, you'll be able to bring home lots of groceries, get your gear to the beach, and comfortably carry your golf bags to the course. The Lexus NX 300 has a significantly smaller trunk with only 17.7 cubic feet of cargo room.

Infotainment System

You'll get to enjoy lots of smartphone compatibility inside both SUVs. A large dashboard monitor comes standard in both the Acura RDX and the Lexus NX 300. Each infotainment system comes with Bluetooth®, Apple CarPlay®, and Android Auto™. Voice recognition is also available, so you can make a call, put on your favorite playlist, and open an app without taking your hands off the wheel.

Over on the instrument cluster, you'll be able to see alerts like who's calling or where your next turn is coming up. The Acura makes it safer and easier to see these alerts by offering a Head-Up Display. It uses a transparent screen to project important information onto the windshield, right in your line of sight.

Unfortunately, the Lexus doesn't offer a Head-Up Display, so you'll have to take your eyes off the road to check your alerts and directions.
