2025 Acura MDX vs 2025 Cadillac XT6

Over the past couple of decades, Acura has been perfecting the MDX to be a performance-heavy SUV, unlike others in its class. Cadillac likes to get their hand in every market which is why the XT6 is often compared. But can they really compare? You’ll soon find that the Cadillac XT6 can’t beat the new 2025 Acura MDX in a match of pure sport around North Tampa, nor does it offer as much in technology or style.

Performance

We wouldn’t expect anything less from the newest 2025 Acura MDX, offering a standard 290-HP powertrain consisting of a 3.5L V6 and available AWD. We don’t need to tell you that’s pretty high for an SUV, but it only gets better. The upgraded engine in the 2025 MDX Type S is a 3.0L V6 Turbo delivering up to 355 horsepower and standard AWD. Carrying that many ponies is almost unheard of in an SUV of such size, and that’s not even counting the 10-speed automatic suspension system with air springs. After seeing what makes the Acura MDX tick, you almost forget that you’re looking at a sport utility vehicle and not a bona fide race car.

Cadillac really tried to match the Acura MDX’s power but to no avail. The 2025 Cadillac XT6 barely makes 235 horsepower on its standard 2.0L turbo engine setup, and the upgraded 3.6L V6 still only makes 310 HP. This ride will need a lot more than that if it wants any chance of beating the new Acura MDX on the track.

Safety Features

Sports car or not, safety is critical in any vehicle when driving around North Tampa. That’s why Acura never takes any chances and instead offers you everything you need for a safer drive in all of its models. The 2025 Acura MDX is equipped with exceptional driver-assist features standard so you can test this SUV’s limits with greater caution. Standard safety and driver-assist features include Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Lane-Departure Warning, Lane-Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and a rear seatbelt reminder system in case you bring anyone else along for the ride.

Did you know? Acura offers 2 years (or 24,000 miles) of complimentary scheduled maintenance for the 2025 Acura MDX!

Because high-performance vehicles aren’t at the top of Cadillac’s list of priorities, the new 2025 Cadillac XT6 is a mere skeleton of what it could be in terms of safety capabilities. Standard features are basic among basic, only including as little as automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, blind zone alert, and auto high beams. For an added cost, you can add HD Surround Vision, but that alone won’t make the XT6 a winner in this particular category.

Interior

Acura is a jack of all trades. Performance, utility, and luxury. The new 2025 Acura MDX is a prime example of all these traits combined. Inside, you’ll find intricate stitching patterns in the leather appointments next to authentic open-pore wood and shining metal accent pieces. The cabin remains serene even when testing the MDX’s performance due to the supreme craftsmanship in the laminated windows that curate prime sound insulation. Comfort isn’t even a question as the new 2025 MDX supports 16-way power-adjusted heated and massaging chairs. Dual 12.3-inch screens set the stage for an advanced tech setup that includes 31 B&O speakers in the MDX Type S (or 19 speakers in other MDX trims).

Cadillac may have gotten the leather seats right in the new XT6, but everything else just feels like a step down from the gloriousness that is the Acura MDX. The 2025 Cadillac XT6 isn’t crafted for an immersive driving experience with its only highlight on the technology side being 8 Bose speakers. Mind you, the MDX Type S supports 31 high-quality speakers.

Bottom Line

Every time we pit the Acura MDX against a competitor, we’re proven time and time again that Acura isn’t so easily dethroned. The Lexus TX couldn’t beat the MDX Advanced, and now, even the Cadillac XT6 has no hope of offering a better driving experience in North Tampa than Acura’s iconic ride. The 2025 Acura MDX offers too much to pass up and comes in an impeccable style that’s all too alluring like a siren’s song.
