2025 Acura RDX vs 2025 Infiniti QX50
Acura is known for their dedication to performance and style, and they have yet to let up their grip on the performance car community. The new 2025 Acura RDX is primed for perfection with immense engine power and a dynamic build. Doubling as a luxury SUV, you’ll also find a great deal of fancy tech that you’ll learn to love with every drive. Infiniti did a decent job creating the illusion of a sporty SUV, but when you take a closer look at the QX50, you’ll start to see the truth in its subpar build.
Performance
We expect nothing less than a turbo engine from Acura, and they truly delivered when crafting the amazing RDX. The 2025 RDX model comes with a 2.0L turbocharged VTEC reaching up to 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Would you believe us if we told you it’s one of the most powerful standard engines in its class? Paired with a sport-tuned 10-speed automatic transmission, zipping around in this speedy and nimble SUV is incredibly satisfying. Super Handling AWD makes every drive flawless and effortless, and the available adaptive damper system improves your drive even further with 3 distinct profiles. This time around, the Integrated Dynamics System in the RDX includes Snow, Comfort, Normal, and Sport modes.
What about the new QX50? It comes with a 2.0L VC Turbo with only 268 horsepower, and it doesn’t come with the enhancements to make up for the lack of power. Compared to its competitor, the RDX almost feels like overkill. But, we would rather have an overly capable ride than an underwhelming one. You should also note that the Infiniti QX50 is built on a CVT system which isn’t quite as responsive as the RDX’s sport-tuned 10-speed, thus giving up this round to Acura in our books.
Safety Features
You can rest easy knowing that you have the AcuraWatch standard package on your side with every RDX model, bringing you incredibly useful features such as:
- Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow
- Forward Collision Warning
- Collision Mitigation Braking
- Road Departure Mitigation
- Lane Departure Warning
- Lane Keeping Assist
- Blind Spot Information
- Rear Cross Traffic Monitor
- Traffic Sign Recognition
Infiniti also equipped the QX50 with a standard safety feature package which includes similar features like adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation, blind spot warning, lane assist, and so on. However, the RDX offers greater support in its ACE body structure. This means that in the case of an accident, the RDX’s enhanced structure will be better suited to handle the impact. Sometimes, it’s worth it to take a step away from technology and focus on what’s arguably more important.
Interior
The physical layout of a car is no doubt significant, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have the latest tech on top of it. The new Acura RDX’s cabin is designed for luxury, enveloping the driver in features that make every drive fun and memorable. 16-way power adjustments ensure that you find your peak comfort spot, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard with a new widescreen mode to set the tone. Everything is still accessible through the intuitive True TouchPad Interface, including the available 16-speaker ELS Studio 3D sound system. Aside from tech, we also appreciate the decision to increase the storage capacity for the center console with larger cup holders and easier access to the wireless smartphone charger.
The cabin is where Infiniti included some of the QX50’s sporty elements, like bolstered seating and synthetic leather trim. There’s an under-floor storage compartment which could come in handy, but there’s still something missing from this particular SUV. The QX50 is void of the “wow” factor that makes every luxury vehicle special. Sure it has useful amenities, but you certainly won’t feel spoiled driving this SUV around town (or anywhere, for that matter).
Bottom Line
Acura is known by many as a symbol of sportiness and luxury, and the new 2025 Acura RDX proudly carries the torch by offering an exceptional powertrain and plenty of high-tech features. If you’ve ever wanted the feel of a sports car but with the amenities of a luxury SUV, the RDX is here to answer the call with impeccable style. Infiniti still has a ways to go before they can call the QX50 a worthy competitor.
