Today, we wanted to take a moment to highlight some of the incredible features that are coming to the all-new 2022 Acura MDX Type S and some of the differences to keep a lookout for.

On-site at Acura’s secret proving ground in the Mojave Desert in California, we were able to discover the new exterior, interior, and powertrain changes that set the MDX Type S apart from their competitors.

Exterior Changes

The all-new menacing diamond pentagon grille features a body-colored grille surround that is different from the TLX Type S. The exclusive Type S front facia is designed to support the additional cooling for the premium Type S engine and improve aerodynamics.

If you spring for the Advanced trim on the MDX Type S, you’ll get the bonus of surround-view cameras, LED fog lights, and more. In addition, Acura added the largest ever tires on the Advance trim package with 21-inch wheels with an electro-servo braking system with Brembo 4-piston front brake calipers.

Performance Changes

The all-new 2022 Acura MDX Type S comes with an ultra-powerful 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine that puts out a whopping 355-horsepower that’s mated to the in-house 10-speed automatic transmission. And when you top it off with the Super Handling All-wheel drive standard, you have the ultimate precision driving machine on the road.

Safety Features

With the 2022 MDX Type S, Acura has packed the power and technology of their leading-edge Acurawatch advanced safety and driver assistance technology, including forward-collision warning system, collision mitigation braking system with advanced pedestrian detection, lane departure warning system, lane-keeping assist, and so much more.

Interior Changes

Once you sit inside the MDX Type S, you’ll discover exactly why Acura is the pinnacle of comfort and luxury in sports-tuned vehicles. For the first time, both the driver and passenger seats have a built-in massage seat function so that you can ride in complete comfort for every commute. In addition, Acura added an all-new ELS Studio 3D premium sound system into the MDX Type S that features 25 speakers, 1,000 watts of power, and illuminating carbon fiber speaker columns.

You’re also going to fall in love with the standard air suspension and lift mode driving that provides up to 50MM in lift for the ultimate comfortable driving experience. And they didn’t stop there. When you switch to Sport mode, the suspension drops down up to 15MM to give your MDX Type S the best center of gravity for racing-inspired handling and performance.
