Every carmaker goes through a transition every year, where they’re spending more time focusing on one or two particular model updates while adding only a few features sprinkled throughout the other models in their lineup. And for 2022, Acura is doing that with their SUVs taking center stage. The MDX is all-new for 2022, but if you’re a sports car lover, then you’ll be disappointed to know that this is also the final year of production for the NSX supercar. But for the Gen Xers, you can rest easy with the knowledge that the much-loved Integra is making a comeback in 2023!
Your Acura-loving friends at Maus Acura of North Tampa wanted to take a few moments to discuss some of the 2022 Acura model updates and changes that are happening this year so that you’re in the know! Because we understand that knowing what’s in store for your next Acura makes it all the more exciting with something to look forward to!
Here are some of the most important updates and changes coming in 2022 broken down by model:
2022 Acura MDX Changes
The Acura MDX is back for 2022, sporting an all-new exterior design and many updates under the hood. This fun luxury SUV now offers even more space to carry your cargo or even crawl into the third row, thanks to larger dimensions that make it more spacious than previous model years. Under the hood, you’ll discover a standard 290-horsepower engine in last year’s model, but there is now a 355-horsepower turbocharged V6 engine option in higher trim levels.
2022 Acura NSX Changes
The NSX is going out with a bang in the final production year. This hybrid supercar introduces a 600-horsepower Type S trim level. You know, just in case the twin-turbo V6 with three motors that puts out a standard 573-horsepower wasn’t enough supercar power under the hood. There will only be 350 units of the Type S produced, and its wider wheels with Brembo brakes, decals, a carbon-fiber roof, and P-Zero tires ensure it stands out from the other trims. There is also a lightweight package available that adds carbon-fiber engine covers and carbon-ceramic brakes that reduce the weight of this supercar by 58 pounds.
2022 Acura ILX Changes
There are no changes for the 2022 model year on the 201-horsepower ILX compact sedan that comes in the Technology, Premium, and A-Spec packages. However, there is word that this is because the ILX will be replaced by the reboot of the Integra hitting lots in the 2023 model year.
2022 Acura TLX Changes
Because the TLX midsize sedan was all-new for the 2021 model year, it comes into 2022 with no fundamental changes. The 2022 TLX comes standard with a 272-horsepower turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine and a 355-horsepower V6 turbo that comes with the Type S.
2022 Acura RDX Changes
One of the most noticeable changes in the 2022 Acura RDX crossover is a minor facelift that includes a revised front and rear fascia. They updated the suspension a little to improve the driving experience as well. You’ll notice inside a decreased level of road and engine noise. Acura also added wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone projection that now come standard on every trim level. They’ve also added an A-Spec appearance package with the Advanced package trim level.
