When it comes to the 2021 Acura ILX , this luxury car stands above its competitors. For example, what comes standard on the ILX with the Premium Package skyrockets the price of the Audi A3 by thousands. Plus, the available A-Spec® Sport Styling Package adds handsome touches like 18-inch Shark Grey alloy wheels, LED fog lights and sport seats trimmed in rich red or black leather – you won’t find an equally uncompromising sport styling variant. The Acura ILX starts at $28,100 compared to Audi’s A3 at $34,700. And that’s just for starters.

Performance

Using the comparable 2021 Acura ILX with Premium Package and the 2020 Audi A3 40 TFSI® with Premium Package, the ILX tops the A3 engine with the 2.4L DOHC 4-cylinder vs. the 2.0 DOHC 4-cylinder turbo. Additionally, the ILX engine horsepower (@rpm) (SAE Net) bests the A3 at 201 @ 6800 vs. 184 @4400. The ILX’s automatic transmission is an 8-speed dual-clutch with a torque converter while the A3’s is only a 7-speed dual-clutch. Acura’s standard paddle shifters are standard while Audi’s are available only with a package upgrade.

Interior & Exterior Design

The Acura’s Jewel Eye® LED headlights come standard, whereas the Audi offers LED headlights only with a trim upgrade. The ILX also comes standard with remote-operated windows and moonroof, which is not available on the A3. Additionally, Acura offers a multi-view rear camera, while Audi’s A3 is only available with a single view camera.

Safety & Driver Assistive Technology

The 2021 Acura ILX boasts a five-star NHTSA Front Driver Crash Test Rating while the Audi A3 scored only four stars. The Rear Cross Traffic Monitor and Blind Spot Information System are standard on the ILX, but require a package upgrade on the A3. The Lane Departure Warning System, Lane Keeping Assist System, and Adaptive Cruise Control With Low-Speed Follow are all standard with Acura while Audi requires a trim upgrade. Also, Acura includes the standard Road Departure Mitigation System that Audi does not offer.

Convenience & Connectivity

Standard on this ILX is the Active Sound Control which allows for a quieter ride, while the A3 doesn’t offer this feature. Hill Start Assist, which keeps the car from rolling backward when stopped on a hill, is another standard feature not included by Audi. Plus, HomeLink® – the wireless control system for your garage door, front gate, home security system, lighting, appliances, and electronics – comes standard on the ILX. The A3, only offers HomeLink® with a package upgrade. The on-demand intuitive touchscreen display comes standard in the Acura and is not available in the Audi.
