The Acura Integra, one of two cars that helped launch the brand in 1986, is making a comeback. The all-new Integra is expected to be fully unveiled and produced in 2022, going on sale shortly after as a 2023 model. The estimated starting price for the Integra is $35,000 with the Integra Type S at an estimated $45,000.

Acura Integra: The Sequel

Throwing it back to the original Acura Integra, the all-new design is expected to have a similar form. A clandestine prototype shows a sporty, compact fastback shape that’s long been connected with the Integra name. It’s anticipated to have a headlight design accented by the same “Integra” script below the lenses as the older variants as well as an available manual transmission.

What’s New for 2022

The Integra will be Acura’s new entry-level vehicle, but it will not be replacing the ILX model. While it remains to be seen if it will be offered in both two- and four-door configurations, like the original, it has been suggested that the new Integra will come in AWD form. Additionally, the new vehicle will carry the same carefree spirit as its predecessors, now with precision-crafted performance across every aspect of the car.

Powertrain Potential

Some car experts foresee Acura using the Honda Civic platform for the Integra, as its parent company has already developed loads of performance hardware for the popular Civic models.

The powertrain from the Civic Type R could give power to an Integra Type S model, possibly utilizing Honda’s slick-shifting manual gearbox. It’s speculated that lesser Integras could stick to a similar strategy as the other Civics.
