Building on decades of innovative design and performance-focused engineering, Acura’s now ushering in a new era—the era of electrification. Acura’s first all-electric model, the 2024 ZDX and ZDX Type S variant will be unveiled in 2023, and the automaker has revealed that it will be sold exclusively online. Read on to find out why.

Providing Convenience for Clients and Customers

Acura’s move toward eCommerce is clear, and it’s a reflection of changing customer needs and expectations. Acura wants to provide clients with the convenience of transacting where they wish to transact. While dealers will remain an integral part of the sales process, interested buyers can only reserve the 2024 ZDX or its Type S variant online, which is set to hit the streets in late 2023.

Honda’s Electrification Business Development Operations

Acura’s parent company—Honda—is leading the charge toward an all-electric future. The automaker has created a new division called the Electrification Business Development Operations to consolidate its EV efforts, including the development of electric vehicles; motorcycles; mopeds; scooters; electrical vertical takeoff and landing vehicles; and battery-swapping technologies.

It’s clear that Honda is accelerating its electrification business, creating value by leveraging a broad range of products and services. By 2030, the automaker plans to release 30 hybrid battery-electric fuel-cell vehicles, including options from the Acura nameplate.

Acura’s First EV—the ZDX

Acura’s highly anticipated first entry into the EV lineup—the ZDX and its performance variant, the ZDX Type S—will be stocked at dealers for potential buyers to see and test drive. Whether you want to start the buying process in your living room or at the dealership, Acura wants to meet you where you are. As mentioned above, all transactions will be completed online.

The 2024 ZDX will take inspiration from Acura’s Precision EV concept, including its angular, sharp design with an eye-catching front end. The vehicle is expected to have the same powertrain as the Lyriq, and it could provide an impressive range of up to 312 miles per charge.

While many details of the ZDX, including interior trimmings and tech features, have yet to be released by Acura, the automaker has revealed one critical detail—the ZDX will be available in a Type S trim. Acura’s released no specific information on the Type S trim, but experts speculate it could be powered by the Lyriq’s dual-motor model that delivers up to 500 hp. There is one thing drivers can count on—peak performance and luxury features.
