Everything We Know So Far About the Acura ZDX and ZDX Type S Post

This past August, Acura made an exciting announcement—the ZDX nameplate is returning to the Acura lineup in 2024, becoming the brand’s first electric vehicle. The 2024 Acura ZDX and ZDX Type S are set to be co-developed with General Motors, relying on their innovative battery technology. Here’s what we know so far about the upcoming ZDX and ZDX Type S.

The Acura ZDX

The original Acura ZDX debuted for the 2010 model year. A capable crossover with a distinctive design, the ZDX was based on a conventional SUV, but sported a lower profile for some extra visual flair. Now, Acura is giving this dynamic vehicle a second lease on life in the form of an electric SUV.

The 2024 Acura ZDX is set to incorporate styling from the brand’s recently revealed Precision EV concept. Designers are still finalizing the look of the 2024 ZDX at Acura’s Los Angeles design studio, so we don’t yet know which aspects of the concept will carry over to the production version, but you can expect to see a highly stylized vehicle with modern details.

The most important aspect of the all-new ZDX is its electric engine. The “Z” in ZDX signifies zero emissions, since the SUV will be completely electric. The vehicle owes its existence to Acura’s partnership with General Motors, relying on their Ultium electric vehicle architecture. It’s set to deliver an impressive overall driving range in the mid-to high 200-mile range. With an anticipated MSRP in the high $50,000 range, the ZDX is an all-electric SUV that’s impressive not only in terms of its styling, but also in terms of affordability.

The Acura ZDX Type S

Like most vehicles in the Acura lineup, the Type S trim will probably be the ZDX’s range-topping model. It’s set to pave the way for all future Type S models in the electrified era, demonstrating the brand’s continued commitment to exceptional performance.

The 2024 Acura ZDX Type S is expected to have two motors, all-wheel-drive, and an impressive maximum horsepower of more than 500, helping the SUV reach an impressive 60 mph in less than 5 seconds. The Type S could also get some incredible styling upgrades, like huge 22-inch wheels, sportier fascia, and Type S badges inside and out. Expect an MSRP in the $70,000 range with options, putting the ZDX Type S well in line with the competition.
